New Republican Twist on an Old Sin

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has put a new twist on an old Republican sin. He now says that John Ensign's admission of adultery is no big deal. Graham said, "I think he will be welcomed back by his colleagues and go back to being a good senator." He also said that Ensign shouldn't have resigned his leadership spot. Graham said this latest Republican admission of yet another Commandment broken is nothing that the GOP should be concerned about. "Most Americans look at this as a personal situation," he added.

Well now. This is a change. Could the GOP be moving to the left? Open marriage and such? Graham went on to say that he had "secret sins" of his own. Does this mean that he has been messing with Senate pages? Does he have a women hidden away in a Washington apartment? Or maybe he has a guy hidden away in a Washington apartment?

How will this little statement play with the fundamentalist base? Will the Christian right accept this view of Graham's that adultery is just a little oversight and nothing to be concerned about? You know, I would bet that we will not hear a peep from James Dobson, John Haggee and their crowd, unless of course a Democrat comes forward with such a "personal situation." It could be that the GOP is simply preparing the way for the biggest adulterer of them all. That's right, NEWT (if he's married, he's cheating) GINGRICH.

Newt---didn't he ALREADY cheat? Left his sick wife? Anyway, makes me think of their catch phrase: "God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve" Will they change that cutey to: "God mad Adam and Eve, and Sally and Amy, and Missy and Tamika and Linda and..."

Wow. So it is not a big deal when a GOP member does it, but the Extreme Religious Right will over look such things when the politics come into play.
