This is a very good article that should be read in churches. I find the American Christians to be some of the most narrow minded in the world. There is no real separation of church and state in this country as the founders hope there would be. Is there real freedom for everyone? Can a known atheist run for office and win? Or an agnostic? Not likely – even if they are the best ones for the position – so where is their freedom? I think that is why so many people in other countries dislike the Americans – because of the hypocrisy like a Bible in one hand, and a gun in the other and their constant affirmation that everyone is free. I have never read as much hate as in some comments on evangelical blogs when referring to non-Christians – and usually they are from “anonymous” commenters.
Little off topic but want to leave you with a link from Baptist preacher near Athsns who has just started blogging in earnest. He will most likley focus on the Baptist world but he is a good soul, little more to the right of center than me and you. But North Georgia he is. Maybe he and Thatbaptistaintright will strike up some give and take. William Thornton of Stathem:
I retired and returned to my hometown of Blairsville, GA. in 2005. I enjoy following politics, sports car racing, a few stick and ball sports, and music, especially "home made music." We have so many special musicians in the mountains of North Georgia and they provide good entertainment. I consider myself somewhat middle of the road politically. On some issues I would be considered by many to be quite liberal. Yet on other issues I am more conservative. I equate the average to be middle of the road. I expect today's so-called conservative would consider me an appeaser because I believe in compromise when possible.

I get some very negative comments from a Christian prospective on this blog, and they are always anonymous.
