You Can't Make a Silk Purse Out of a Sow's Ear

The inevitable has happened. The starry-eyed romance of Bristol Palin and her boyfriend has come undone. She got a baby to raise out of the deal. He gets to go make more of them with whomever he can find. The conservative media and the Governor of Alaska tried to make him into the boy wonder, but the bottom line is that he is a high school dropout, who doesn't have a job, and his roots seem to be in the world of illegal drugs. Nothing new.

He is destined for trouble and Bristol has become another statistic in the single, unmarried teenage mother category. Yet another example of poor parenting and a lack of good sex education, either at home or at school. Spouting scripture and talking "values" does not stop pregnancies. It's a shame, but it happens daily and it appears there is no end in sight.

It was all for show. It would have been a shotgun wedding anyway.

Read James 4 and Matthew 5 and see if qualified to post such articles. Why did you pick this story about an unwed mother? Who do you know that has been in the same situation? We need to be evangelizing, not politicizing. mom2

Unfortunately, I know many who have been in this situation, mom2. I had three aunts, all of whom were in this situation at a time in their lives. I know many young women, who have fallen for the charms of a young man, only to have him leave them with a child. It happens every day, has been happening since time began, and unfortunately, it will continue to happen. As Bristol Palin said, abstinence isn't realistic and has never worked. In today's world birth control and sex education are realistic and can change these kinds of situations that often lead to abortions if young people are taught about them. As far as qualifications go, I don't need to read scriptures to be as qualified to comment on this issue as you are to comment on my posts. You normally try to read something that isn't there. This post is a simple comment about life today. It was prompted by an item in the news.

Great post. Religious hypocrisy sickens me.

Purely political GMM. You wouldn't have written this about a Democrats daughter. Shame, shame. mom2

Mom2, that's your opinion and you are welcome to it, but it isn't true. Do you really have an opinion of your own or just those that some fundamentalist preacher or right wing pundit tells you to have?

I have a mind GMM and it changed during Jimmy Carter's administration. As I get older, I also get closer to seeing my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and am confident that He, more than any politician is my source and my supply. I really do grieve for the church that sleeps and believes this world is the best offered. Have a good day! mom2

That's interesting mom2. Jimmy Carter is the most devout, truly Christian president of my life time. I would think that you would be very in tune with him.
