Evil Dick, He's Everywhere, He's Everywhere

It seems that no matter what news show you choose, the Evil One is there, pretending to be concerned about the "safety" of the country. The media, apparently, are as obsessed with having him on their interview shows, as he is with trying to clean up his legacy. Unfortunately, for him, it is far too late for any cleansing.

Cheney has already shown up more for interviews in the last 100 days than he did during his entire stint as the back room string puller in the Bush Regime. He seems to be in panic mode, since it occurred to him that his evil doings were about to become public knowledge. He rants about the current administration making the country unsafe. At times he incriminates himself by revealing information about his involvement in decisions regarding the use of torture. Throughout this entire sorry series of interviews, it has become clear that he is desperately trying to rewrite the history of the Bush Regime to somehow make himself a hero.

At the same time that he is trying to cleanse his legacy, he has almost become a spokesman for the Republican Party. This comes at a time when some in the party are talking about trying to create a new, positive image for themselves. Instead they have to continue to fight Cheney's negativity and his attempts to continue to make the Republican Party synonymous with extreme right-wing demagoguery.

About the only thing that Cheney has accomplished these last three months has been to keep the Republican Party on the defensive and give Democrats great talking points about the opposition. Democrats rub their hands together with glee every time it is announced that he will be on yet another interview show. At the same time Republicans cry in their beer, knowing that once again, one of the leaders of the regime that took the country into a needless war, killed the economy and gave the United States a bad name throughout the world will appear to drag them back into that bottomless pit.

Keep it up, evil one. Keep reminding the people of this country what you and your puppet did. You were responsible for the needless deaths and maiming of thousands of Americans and Iraqis. You stepped on the Constitution. You gave the United States the reputation as a torturer and at the same time gave those who oppose us great recruiting material. Yours and your puppet's failed economic policies and your failure to police big business and the banking industry caused millions of Americans permanent financial ruin. Keep it up and a new party will be born as the Republican Party is buried, forever to be remembered as the party of the evil Chaney and his little sidekick, G.W. Bush.

Ohio Christian School Out of Bounds

An Ohio Christian School has forbidden one of its senior students to attend a public school prom because there will be dancing and rock music. The student "would not be permitted to attend graduation but would get a diploma once he completes final exams. If (the student) is involved with alcohol or sex at the prom, he will be expelled..." Will the christian school stake out the prom in question and put a tail on the student to determine the latter?

It is amazing that this is the 21st Century and these kinds of incidents are still happening. The student signed a confirmation of the rules when he enrolled, but who would expect that the school would try to control his off campus activities, such as attending a prom? Do schools like these actually believe that they are doing anyone justice, when they try to control every thought and activity?

I recently read an article about a student who attended Bob Jones University in order to write about the school, which has harsh rules governing every thought and activity. In a very fair work, the student wrote that many of the students broke the rules on a regular basis. Frankly, no one is going to get high school and college students, or adults for that matter, to follow such archaic rules for very long.

When will fundamentalists ever learn that they cannot force people to be moral? The Puritans could not do it with hanging and whipping as a consequence for breaking the religious laws. Schools cannot force students to be moral by such archaic rules as those decreed by the Ohio school or by Bob Jones U.

These educational facilities are mini Talibans, who if given the opportunity, would resort to whippings and worse to get their point across. They reflect the atmosphere that would rule this country, should religious fundamentalists ever gain control of the the federal government.

Throw Spector Back

With Arlen Spector's latest incredible statement that Norm Coleman should be seated, it is time that the Democratic Party threw him back. He is not worth the trouble of trying to clean. That dirty Republican streak down his back will not come out, so he is too tainted to keep. If he votes Republican, sounds Republican, and backs Republicans, then he must still be Republican.

Spector is not worthy of being called a Democrat. Although his numbers have gone up in Pennsylvania since he switched, there is no guarantee that he will not go back to the Republican side if he wins re-election. I would not be at all surprised to see him do such a dirty thing. Let him be an independent. Then he and Joe Liberman can commiserate and vote together. They certainly deserve each other.
